'District 9' director Neill Blomkamp releases teaser for "experimental" short film
District 9 director Neill Blomkamp has just launched Oats Studios, which was set up so the director could try his hand at making "experimental short films" which will be available to watch online via Steam.
If Blomkamp's previous films are anything to go by, these short films should be freakin amazing. I was totally drawn in by District 9 and Elysium and I'm expecting big thing from his upcoming short films.
One of the short films, dubbed Volume 1, appears to depict an alternate 20th century history where humans wage war against a race of lizard-like alien invaders; with Blomkamp writing on Twitter "Alternate Vietnam war timelines are coming."
The trailer opens with a shot of an overgrown Eiffel Tower, as a voiceover explains that aliens have come to exterminate humanity. The trailer then shows a woman shooting an alien and American soldiers flying over Vietnam. Check out the trailer:
